The Team
Phil founded Wairau Electric to provide the Marlborough region with a versatile and highly skilled electrical partner. Backed by over 32 years of industry experience, Phil leads a team dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions across the Industrial, Commercial, and Residential sectors.
Phil has called Marlborough home since 2005, drawn to the region by its appealing outdoor lifestyle. Bringing extensive industry experience dating back to 1994, Phil has a strong local history, having previously founded and managed both Powered Electrics and Aotea Electric Marlborough. He specialises in commercial tendering and negotiation, with a focus on providing transparent, trustworthy, efficient, and cost-effective planning for your electrical requirements.
As Owner and Operator, Phil is responsible for strategic direction, tender management, and ensuring every project remains on budget and compliant. In his spare time, you'll find Phil hanging with friends and family as well hunting, fishing, diving or cycling.
Born and bred in Marlborough, Harry is a key member of the Wairau Electric team, currently in his eighth year in the industry. He started his electrical career early, getting his apprenticeship at age 17 straight out of school through the Gateway programme at Marlborough Boys' College.
Harry specialises in large-scale commercial projects, preferring the technical challenges of "big cables and big switchboards". His role involves a mix of on-site leadership and office administration; he spends his days managing teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and handling quoting and scheduling to keep projects running on time.
Technical expertise is a priority for Harry, who holds specialised endorsements in hazardous areas, mains parallel generation systems, supervision, and medical cardiac protected areas.
A true local, Harry attended Fairhall School before moving on to Marlborough Boys'. When he isn't on the job, he takes full advantage of the Marlborough lifestyle - you'll usually find him fishing in the Sounds, hunting in the hills, or playing touch and squash.
